More than 600 activities are planned across Dudley Borough during a month-long festival focused on health, wellbeing and social connection.

The Ageing Well Festival runs from 1 to 31 October and will bring together more than 150 local partners at over 70 venues.

Organisers say the programme contains around 630 sessions, including walking, exercise, dance, swimming, gym use, racket sports, singing, crafts, gardening, films, digital skills and social groups.

Free activities across the borough

Most activities are free and open to everyone, although some sessions have eligibility requirements, limited places or must be booked in advance.

The programme is organised around eight themes: being active, staying connected, keeping the mind healthy, eating and drinking well, developing healthy habits, looking after health, self-managing health and preparing for different weather conditions.

This is the first year Citizens Advice Dudley and Wolverhampton has led the festival through the Dudley Empowerment Partnership, working with Dudley Council’s public health team and voluntary, community and statutory organisations.

Laura Thomas, chief executive of Citizens Advice Dudley and Wolverhampton, said: “We hope the festival will encourage people to recognise that we can celebrate ageing and that positive mental and physical health as we age is so fundamental to our current and future wellbeing.”

Check before travelling

Organisers recommend checking individual listings before travelling because some activities may change and others require advance booking.
