Local businesses have backed the Dudley Charity Boxing Showdown taking place at Dudley Town Hall on Friday, 21 August. The event will see Dudley Council leader Councillor Patrick Harley step into the boxing ring against former councillor Shaz Saleem, both of whom have undertaken months of intensive training.
All proceeds from the event will be shared between the mayoral charities of Councillor Pete Lowe and former mayor Councillor Pete Lee.
Business sponsorship
Platinum sponsors S&R Construction and Brindley Capital are leading the sponsorship effort. They are joined by gold sponsors Dudley Motors, Thomas Dudley and IPL Schoeller, while GMB Union and Fun City Dudley have signed up as silver sponsors.
Bronze sponsors supporting the event are Richardson's, Jewson Partnership Solutions, Racking UK and Sports Shop Kingswinford.
By covering the full cost of staging the event, sponsors have ensured that every penny raised on the night will go directly to the charities.
Why the fight matters
Councillor Patrick Harley said: "The charity boxing showdown is all about people coming together to support important local causes, and we are incredibly grateful to every business that has sponsored the event. Without the incredible support of our sponsors, this event simply would not be possible."
Councillor Pete Lowe, Mayor of Dudley, added: "Having seen the commitment and dedication Patrick and Shaz have put into training for this event over the past few months, I know just how much hard work has gone into preparing for fight night. What makes their efforts even more special is that they are doing it to raise money for a range of worthy causes."
