Dudley Council has welcomed the production of a major television drama that used locations across the borough during filming. The Cadburys is a six-part historical drama telling the story of the Cadbury family's rise from cocoa industry underdogs to creators of one of the world's most recognised chocolate brands.

Wordsley Manor was among several Dudley borough locations used to film the period drama. The series is being produced by Fable Pictures and is due to air on a free-streaming service in 2027.

West Midlands Film Production Hub

The production shines a spotlight on the West Midlands' rich heritage and growing reputation as a centre for film and television production. Dudley Council works closely with Production Central, the West Midlands' film office, which connects local authorities and production companies to attract and support filming across the region.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said: "We have been delighted to welcome the cast and crew of The Cadburys and it was great to see filming taking place here at Wordsley Manor. Dudley Council works with regional and national production companies to promote the borough as a film-friendly destination and this helps to attract investment, supports local businesses and celebrate the area's rich cultural heritage."

Cadbury Family Legacy in Dudley

The Cadbury family had strong links to the wider Black Country and supported social improvement projects across Dudley and the surrounding area through the philanthropic work of the Barrow Cadbury Trust during the early 20th century.

Councillor Harley added: "Dudley has provided iconic filming locations for several TV series and films over the years and through our work with Production Central means we have more exciting opportunities in the pipeline."
