Dudley Council has acquired eight new two-bedroom apartments on a brownfield site in Halesowen, boosting the local authority's housing stock. The development is located on the corner of Summer Hill and Powell Street and is due to complete in December 2026.

The site was formerly occupied by office buildings that had remained vacant for several years. Dudley Council worked with Marsons Summerhill Development and Grove Properties Group to secure the apartments, which are situated close to Halesowen town centre.

Council Priority and Regeneration

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader at Dudley Council, said the new apartments represent a key priority for the council. "Increasing the supply of good-quality housing remains a key priority for the council," he said. "These new apartments are a welcome addition to the council's housing stock and demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved by bringing brownfield sites back into use."

He added that the location offers residents access to shops, services and transport links in a sustainable area close to the town centre.

Developer Perspectives

Dean Grove, owner of Grove Properties Group, said the transformation of the disused office site into modern residential apartments was particularly rewarding. "It is particularly rewarding to see the site transformed from a long-disused office location into eight modern residential apartments, providing new homes and bringing the site back into productive use," he said.

A spokesperson for Marsons Summerhill Development said the development creates high-quality new homes that make a positive contribution to the local area.
