Dudley Council's cabinet will be asked to approve the creation of a new forum for Friends of Parks groups when it meets on October 8.

The forum would bring together community volunteers, local groups, and partners who work to support and improve green spaces across the borough. Dudley CVS has been recommended to support the initial set-up and running of the forum while it establishes itself.

What the forum would offer

According to the council, the forum would allow groups to share knowledge and connect with others facing similar challenges. Members would receive updates on funding, training, events, and volunteering opportunities, as well as access to support and practical resources. The forum would also promote parks improvements across the borough.

Cabinet backing sought

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: "Our Friends of Parks groups do an incredible job supporting and enhancing green spaces across the borough. Establishing a borough-wide forum would help bring these groups together, allowing them to share ideas, learn from each other, access practical support and explore new opportunities to improve our parks for residents and visitors."

Once established, the forum may expand to include other groups involved with parks and open spaces within Dudley borough.
